The Violin in the Field

Navitha was given the task to draw and paint her violin. 'The story of the piece is a violin in a field being magically transported to girl who lives in the house and plays the violin'.

You can teach a student  to learn your techniques or you can let them be free and work along side them to develop their own style

Navitha is my first ever Art Student.

Teaching is something that I never wanted to do so it came something as a surprise to be asked. It makes such a difference to have someone who is really enthusiastic to learn and has that same fun twinkle in her eyes.

Navitha is 8 years old, almost the same age I was when I decided that Art was my direction and passion. She is extremely bright and full of fun.

Over time I will be adding her work and progress. I'm looking forward to working with Navitha and seeing where she goes in life.

Keep an eye on this page for updates!

The Study of Eyes in Pencil

This week I set the task of studying eyes.

The changes in their shape depending on expression, touching a little on Anime.

Looking back over Navitha's work I think she did really well with this task. It wasn't an easy task and I really admire her for sticking with the lesson and listening to my instructions.

I added our two pages here to show the comparison of how well she actually did.

I'm so proud of you mini-me!

'Seasonal'

The aim of this project was to introduce Navitha to oil pastels on canvas paper using a soaped ink.

Techniques on masking blending and ink on oil were taught.

This was the perfect example of when you're student interprets her vision differently to the set example and runs with it. A typical Artists approach! Navitha has included squirrels birds and people in a triptich that has individual scenes.
